TROUBLES WITH THE REAL: LACAN AS A VIEWER OF ALIEN
I have no idea what this chapter is really about?! Aspects of the chapter I think I understand but then as a point is continued I find it really confusing.
I think one point made in the chapter is that the only thing we can be sure of thats is Real is that of science.
As a whole this book is influencing my thoughts in terms of how the audience play a big role within performance. In a sense the audience is the Big Other within performance. The audiences actions/thoughts could actually be more important than the performer, as without the audience who is the performer?
Another thought I have is that of becoming? What make me become me? What makes Western Culture become Western Culture? If I withdraw myself from the acts of me then and adapt the acts of another than can I become that other?
