Hanbook of inaesthetics- Chapter 6

Dance as a metaphor of thought

‘Dance is innocence, because  it is a body before the body’, A body before the social constructions?

opposite to dancing body….dance as a metaphor is the internal!!

Dance goes against the impulses, against the propriception!! It is that moment when the body is unconstrained!!

‘Dance would mimic a thought that had remained undecided, something like a native (or unfixed) thought. Yes, in dance, we would find the metaphoe in the unfixed’ P.61

Principles of dance:

1.The obligation of space

2.The anonymity of the body

(The dance is never someone!!)

3.The effaced onmipresence of the sexes

(Sexuation, Desire and Love)

4.The subtraction from self

(Dance without a dancer, dance undanced. True dancer never know the dance she dances. The unknown!!)

5.Nakedness

Dance as metaphor is nothing else than the dance itself- ‘The event given before the name)

‘Exposes nakedness of concepts’

6.The absolute gaze

‘Dance is not an art, because it is the sign of the possibility of art as inscribed in the body’ P.69

Dance shows us the body is capable of art!!- THE BODY THAT THINKS!!!
